You’re invited – come join in our regular second Tuesday of the month meetings, 6 pm in the community room at The Meridian in Galveston. We’ve already had a couple of great speakers in the past months and Program Director Jim Bevill promises that there’s much more to come! We plan to take the best of what we already had in the past and shape it into the direction our members want to see going forward.
As an historical study group, our guest speakers will as always inform, educate, and yes, entertain us as we continue learning about Jean and Pierre Laffite and the historical era around their time in Galveston. Members who wish to do scholarly research and special projects are actively encouraged to pursue their ideas. Our archival team is busy digitally preserving our treasure trove of original research materials and welcomes everyone interested in helping. And, of course, we’ll all enjoy the Laffite Society’s unique fellowship and good times. (Along with the occasional Sazerac!)

The Laffite
Society Logo

A reproduction of the Jean Laffite signature originally affixed to the “Le Brave” documents was chosen as part of the logo of the Laffite Society. This signature is generally considered to be the authentic in that it has been in the custody of the United States government since originally signed by Jean Laffite in Federal Court in New Orleans. Its originality and provenance is therefore assured.
The Society employs the spelling of Laffite with two “f’s” and one “t”.
